SpecialtyCoffee.com's principal, Robert Hensley, has taught coffee buying, roaster technology, equipment operation, quality management, and coffee cupping and analysis to clients and students worldwide. Building on a lifelong love of coffee, Robert received his early professional coffee training with Alfred Peet and others at Peet's Coffee and Tea from 1984 -1988. Robert was asked to join the coffee equipment manufacturer Probat USA in 1988 to help build and demonstrate equipment,and train coffee clients throughout North America. There he began conducting roaster trainings, and conducting cupping workshops. Upon Probat’s relocation outside of California Robert founded the Coffee Training Institute, and continued to provide a wide range of training and consulting services for Probat and other clients and equipment manufacturers. Services were further expanded in 1994 to network with green coffee exporters and importers providing clients with complete quality management for sourcing green coffee supplies. Robert has presented numerous seminars and speeches for industry organizations such as, the National Coffee Association, the Specialty Coffee Association of America, the Pacific Coast Coffee Association, the Hawaiian Coffee Association, and numerous coffee companies both large and small. To date more than 700 companies have participated in CTI workshops. Mr. Hensley’s personal commitment and the comprehensive industry knowledge he provides brings a wealth of information and networking resources for each and every client we work with.
